Japan Pilgrimage I Day 9 - Guest Blogged by 浪迹天涯小狗

We're going to the place where the first atomic bomb dropped years ago!

HIROSHIMA~

We took Kodama Line, which took us 3 hrs to reach Hiroshima from Osaka. Should have waited for the Hikari Line.

Tako Bento

Firstly, we took the JR Line to Miyajimaguchi(宮島口), where we transferred to a JR Ferry (Yes, JR has EVERYTHING. Well, almost.) to Miyajima island.

Miyajimaguchi

Miyajima (宮島), Deer Island.

Leaving Mainland.

Zoom Ootori Gate.

Zoom Zoom Ootori Gate. Hehe.

JR Ferry.

Deer

Errmm.. HAHAHHA. That's a cute kid.

Single Antler-ed

Woahhhhhh....... (Photographed by Mistress, NOT a postcard!)

Itsukushima Shrine (厳島神社)

Reconstructed.

See how clean and vibrant the paint is..

Some ceremony. Actually phototaking is prohibited but Mistress saw the sign too late.

Sake Barrels

Noh Stage

Outside Itsukushima Shrine

Quiet and scenic streets of Miyajima. Very old school Japan.

神木. Coins can be seen in the grooves.

Expensive Corn again. Mistress cant resist again.

World's Largest Spatula

As Miyajima is the birthplace of the rice scoop, thus other than deer-themed souvenirs, rice scoops are also in abundance. Oh! And Momiji manjū (もみじ饅頭), is very nice!! U can find the actual red beans in the paste!! Oishii~

Another sunset

We went back to Hiroshima for the Peace Memorial Park to get some history in our system.

Hiroshima (広島)

We boarded the city bus to Peace Memorial Park, only to find that it closes at 6pm. The whole place is in darkness, thou not totally but its dark.

Cenotaph for the A-bomb Victims

Peace Memorial Park (平和公園 Heiwa-kōen)

We walked all the way to A-Bomb Dome, viewing artefacts along the way. Pictures were too dark.

Children's Peace Monument

A-Bomb Dome (原爆ドーム Genbaku Dōmu). In the dark.

Statue of the A-Bomb Children

Hmm.. Mistress just read up that the Peace Memorial Museum is quite disturbing with its graphical struggles of the A-bomb victims. Interesting.

After the disappointment, we headed for our long long journey back. Look at this.
City Bus => Hiroshima station (JR Shinkansen) => Shin Osaka (JR Line) => Osaka (Osaka Loop Line) => Tennoji.

*Plonk! Dead Tired.
